The book of the expert in the field of state regulation of gambling and lottery activities Evgeny Kovtun "History of Soviet lotteries (1917-1924)" was released by the publishing house "Limbus Press". About this TASS said on Thursday the author himself.
There will be four volumes in the Kovtun lottery book series. “For seven years I studied the topic of lotteries from a historical point of view, I was able to get acquainted with a large amount of material, realized that this was unrealistic within the framework of one book and did the so-called tetralogy - four volumes,” the expert noted. The first book tells about lotteries of the period 1917-1924, the second will focus on 1925-1930. “I think by the end of the year I will be able to publish the second volume,” added Kovtun. “And maybe two more books will be left for me in two years.” In them, he will talk about lotteries during the period from 1930 to 1945 and from 1945 to 1991.
While working on a book, the author studied materials from the State Archive of the Russian Federation, the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, the Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History, and the Russian Archive of Film and Photo Documents. He also visited the archives of St. Petersburg, Orenburg and Krasnodar. The book is illustrated with documents, political posters, photographs, mainly of the first persons of that time.
“My book will definitely be interesting to those who are fond of history, it conveys the era of that time. It will be very interesting to collectors of lottery tickets, and there are very many of them to lawyers who are interested in law, especially in the Soviet period,” said Kovtun.
